Singapore Arts Festival 2007

Yes, I have totally stopped myself from watching another K-drama 'cuz I'm starting working next week.

I'm a labour provider cum supporter for Singapore Arts Festival. Have been with them since my internship in 2004. How cool..

This year, I'm helping out for the festival's outreach as assistants.

Hot job - yes, lotsa perspiration cuz it's outdoors, it's exciting cuz we get to watch the performance like for as long as it's here. Plus, I get to do a bit of hosting again! Frankly, I don't get special rate for doing hosting but then again, the joy of listening to my voice boom through Padang is a gratifying experience. Period. :)

This year's festival opening is by La Fura dels Baus a Spanish arts group. They will magically suspended in space is an amazing aerial net of human bodies moving in synchronicity.

Beautiful.

It's FREEEEE...

Come by and catch this performance. Really.. not something to miss.

Indulgence... Over Indulgence

My God! crazy Aileen just can't stop tearing the wrappers off the boxes of K-drama Ivy bought.

It's tempting. It's sinful. It's indulgence.

Well, at least it makes me happy. Anything that makes anybody happy I would recommend it.

No point forbidding yourself something and make yourself upset and miserable.

That's how I stay happy in life.

Thank God my hobby is not killing. :)

Let's Go to School, Sang-doo! - 상두야,학교가자!

Latest Watch!Synopsis:

Childhood friends, Cha Sang-doo and Chae Eun-hwan, became the most envied couple in highschool because of their love for each other. However, good things never seem to last. The lovebirds were torn apart when Eun-hwan's family was threatened by debtors to be on the run and Sang-doo, goes to a jail when he knocked someone into coma while rescuing Eun-hwa's prized possession.

Upon release, Sang-doo realised Eun-hwan's family is no longer living in the vicinity and his foster parents had disowned him and migrated to America. Years later, he became a gigolo in order to raise enough to cover the hospital bills for his sick 'daughter', Bori. During a date with his client, he coincidentally bumped into Eun-hwa, now a high school teacher and vows to win her back at all cost. His determination led him to be a school security guard, an 18 year old high school student and anything that could allow him to get close to Eun-hwa.

This 16 episode comedy-romance drama beautifully records the ups and downs of their relationship, separation and reunion.

My take:
Though this 2003 drama is Rain's debut as an actor, I would say that it definitely gave him more opportunity to showcase his acting talent as compared to Full House. He plays a student, a father, a lover and this made him so much more attractive because now we see Rain not just a hearthrob singer-dancer but a rather talented actor as well.

Worth watching.

Also, there's not much crying for the audience to participate in. Just lots of s
creaming and gushing for Rain's fans. :)

Kong Hyo-jin who plays Eun-Hwan is the most natural looking female Korean actress in this drama. i.e. to say she doesn't look like she has much plastic surgery done to her. Of course, initially it takes some getting use to just to watch her on screen, but after a while you really find her
quite comfortable to look at. Afterall... it's natural.

Ivy just can't stop oooo-ing over Lee Dong-geon (Mr Panda eyes), who plays Eun-Hwa doctor boyfriend. He has starred in Stained Glass and Sweet 18.

18 vs. 29 - 열여덟 스물아홉

My Latest Watch!
Synopsis:

Yoo Hye-chan, 29, married to her highschool classmate, Kang Sang-young, met with an accident on the way to submit the divorce papers at her lawyer's office. She wakes up, remembering only the events 11 years ago and believes she is still an 18 year old. She goes back to school, mixes with the highschool students and made an 18 year old, Kim Noon, fall head-over-heels with her.

Meanwhile, Sang-young tries to juggle his stardom, amnestic wife and a pestering admirer and co-star, Shin Ji-young. Along the journey of recovery from amnesia, Hye-chan and Sang-young went back to the days of courtship and falls in love with each other again after a stale 7 year old marriage.

My take:

Pretty fast paced show. Not too bad. Not much crying (on audience side). No tears wasted. No one died. No disease related story line.

OK, I'm a fan of Korean drama.

Guys often give a face when we talk about Korean dramas. They think the storyline is all the same. Someone will die. Brother-sister relationship.

Gosh.

I guess you guys need to know that, Korean drama fans dig the process. We enjoy the progress, the process, the romance, the hiccups.. everything in the middle!

For 18 vs 29, it was a good thing that the Hye-chan got into an accident and became an 18year old once again.

#1 - It saved their marriage
#2 - The husband has to take care of her like a kid again
#3 - Both were reminded of the times when they were in courtship
#4 - Husband found out the problem in their marriage
- he's usually to busy to spend time with his stayhome wife - who gets paranoid easily
#5 - They both fell in love again like they did 11 years ago

Dramas like this are very close to our lives too. It makes us think and apply to our lives (or at least in the future).

Back from break!

Whoa! It's been so long since I last blogged!

For me, when I'm M.I.A, it's not too difficult to guess why..

#1 - I have been working late
#2 - My comp is spoilt
#3 - Blogspot is in a mess
#4 - Ivy's hogging the net
.
.
.

last and most obvious reason...

#5 - I was burning 'midnight' oil on Korean drama!

B-I-N-G-O! All 5 reasons!

#1 - The Sandbox recital is tmr and Monday (do feel free to pop by theatreworks to watch at 8pm-9.45pm, do look at my previous post!)

#2 - For whatever reasons, I'm always running on Safe Mode with Networking. I hate this comp! I need reformat it. But it's so much work!

#3 - I thought it was just Ivy, but when I log on to blogger.com, my account was in a mess too. Stupid thing.

#4 - Well.... yeah.. she's usually online but that's cuz I was busy with #5 :)

#5 - Just finished with 18 vs 29!

Free-DOM

Yippie! Exams are finally over!

Hm... funny feeling though. Like what Jas said, 'It doesn't feel that shiok afterall, does it?'

Yeah, I totally agree with her. Maybe we haven't been studying hard enough to feel the complete liberation. Then again, two of my papers are worth 20%.

The girls haven't finished their paper so I couldn't really PARttttyyy today. While Joey and
Nim are going Zouk then Double O to get their ladies' night.. I'm stuck in my neighbourhood tutoring Gabriel. (sigh.. the lil' imp pushes tuition time around like nobody's biz)

Anyway, I had a great simple chill out at the Cheese Prata shop with the whole gang of TS friends.

Nim insisted on having the grp photo taken cuz we did 'Metamorphosis' together!
How lucky Ian is, surrounded by three pretty girls. :)

Hm... no Kbox, no booze, no movies, just queensway window shopping with Jas, Cindy and Dennis.

it's ok, I'm bored anyway and felt like walking around.

Lazy to head down to town... and I bought my first ever FBT shorts.

Exactly the same one Jessica has. It's cool and comfy and cellulite showing. Who cares! I'm embarking my jogging regime!

Cost S$12 and it's dry-fit :)
